New requirements for student visas in Berlin, Germany, have been identified, effective May 1, 2025. As of this date, biometric passport photos submitted for Berlin student visa applications must be taken digitally and transmitted electronically.
Additionally, financial proof requirements are being updated. Non-exchange students applying for a Berlin student visa will need to provide evidence of a blocked account containing €992.00 per month. Exchange students, however, will be required to show proof of travel health insurance.
